Not an exciting game as such - barring the part when MS Dhoni smashed 28 runs in 9 balls - but Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) did not break a sweat as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Chasing down 176 runs in 20 overs, LSG skipper KL Rahul played a fine knock of 82 runs off 53 balls, smashing 9 fours and 3 maximums. Seeing the way Rahul played a captain's knock got fans excited, with many even praising the batter on X (formerly known as Twitter).

As for the innings, Quinton de Kock walked back after scoring 54 off 43, while Nicholas Pooran (23 off 12) and Marcus Stoinis (8 off 7) remained not out. For CSK, Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana were the bowlers who took one wicket each.

Earlier in the innings, LSG put CSK to bat first, and the team in yellow suffered the loss of Ajinkya Rahane (36 off 24), Rachin Ravindra (0 off 1), Ruturaj Gaikwad (17 off 13), Shivam Dube (3 off 8), and impact substitute Sameer Rizvi (1 off 5) at regular intervals.

However, Ravindra Jadeja's 57 off 40 along with Moeen Ali's 30 off 20 set the pace for CSK. But it was the onslaught by MS Dhoni who smashed 28 off 9 to take his team's total to 176 for 6. Krunal Pandya took two wickets, while Mohsin Khan, Yash Thakur, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi each have one to their name.
