After becoming the first player to score 1000 WODI runs in a calendar year, India Women opener Smriti Mandhana has now become the second Indian cricketer to score 5000 WODI runs. Not only that, she has also become the youngest and quickest (in terms of matches) to reach the milestone.

After completing her 33rd WODI fifty and fifth consecutive 50+ score against Australia in WODIs, Mandhana became the second Indian woman after Mithali Raj to score 5000 WODI runs.
In the final ball of the 22nd over, the stylish left-handed batter played a on-drive against Tahila McGrath to reach the milestone. Mandhana, who reached the landmark in just 112 matches, has now gone past West Indies legend Stafanie Taylor’s record to become the quickest to reach 5000 WODI runs.
Not only that, at just 29 years 86 days old, she is also the youngest to reach the milestone.

Earlier in the day in Vizag, Australia Women won the toss and decided to bowl first. Australia brought in one change while India remained unchanged despite defeat against South Africa in the previous game.
India started cautiously but capitalized on the opportunities given by Australian bowlers as the innings progressed. Fifties from Smriti Mandhana and Prtika Rawal took India’s score over 150 in the 25th over. However, India lost Smriti Mandhana on 80 from 66 balls. India are 160/1 after 26 overs.
Partika Rawal is unbeaten on 65 off 83 balls.
