Mumbai Indians (MI) continue to lose their season opener games, this time under new skipper Hardik Pandya. This marks GT's third win against Mumbai Indians at this venue.

Jasprit Bumrah came in, managing only one run, which was all GT needed to seal the deal.

For MI, barring Ishan Kishan at the start, Rohit Sharma (43), Naman Dhir (20), Dewald Brevis (46), and Tilak Varma (25) contributed, while Hardik Pandya scored 11 off 4 balls.
Earlier, GT, batting first, saw openers Wriddhiman Saha (19) and new captain Shubman Gill (31) getting off to a good start, while Sai Sudharsan (45) became his side's highest scorer. The other batters, namely Azmatullah Omarzai (17), David Miller (12), and Rahul Tewatia (22), all played good cameos. For MI, besides Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee picked two wickets, while Piyush Chawla has one to his name.
