The Rajasthan Royals’ training camp at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium witnessed a "changing of the guard" moment, which has sent the Royals' fans into a delirium. In a video shared by the franchise, the world’s premier all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, found himself on the receiving end of a brutal hitting exhibition by the young prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

The tactical battle: Vaibhav vs. Jadeja

Jadeja, now donning the Rajasthan Royals pink after a legendary career with Chennai Super Kings, started the combat by going around the wicket. Looking to use the rough and cramp the left-hander for room, Jadeja fired in a carrom ball. However, Suryavanshi was equal to the task, picking the variation early and playing it down the ground towards long on, probably for a single.

Stung by the reply, Jadeja adjusted his strategy, switching to over the wicket and taking the speed off the ball. He delivered two consecutive slower balls, searching for a mishit or an edge.

But the youngster was undeniable; Suryavanshi stayed back, maintained his shape, and sent both deliveries soaring into the stands; one over the cover and one in the leg side.

However, Jadeja eventually got his revenge back as he fired in a straighter one and Vaibhav, who tried to pull him off the length, was caught in the deep. Jadeja put both hands up in the jubilation, but Vaibhav set himself up again to hit the rest of the deliveries from the left-arm spinner.

A new chapter for "Sir" Jadeja

While the practice session belonged to the youngster, the presence of Ravindra Jadeja in the Rajasthan Royals' dugout is a huge boost for their championship dream. Having been a prolific all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings for over a decade, playing a key role in numerous title wins with his 'three-dimensional' skill set, Jadeja brings a valuable winning mentality to Jaipur.

As the Royals hunt for their second IPL title (their first since the inaugural 2008 season), Jadeja’s capacity to squeeze batters in the middle overs and finish games with the bat is seen as the final piece of the puzzle. His familiarity with high-pressure knockouts is expected to be the guiding light for the more youthful players in the squad.
