In Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant was on fire as he smashed the Gujarat Titans (GT) bowlers across the park at his home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten at 88 runs off 43 balls, having smashed 5 fours and 8 mammoth sixes.

Seeing the batter-keeper regain his glory after making a return to cricket after his horrific life-threatening accident has fans excited. Many have now stated that the discussion for who will be the keeper for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 has ended with Pant's performance. Fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to welcome Pant back and shared their excitement.

As for the clash, Delhi's start after being put into bat didn't look promising, as it did not seem like they would even reach 180. GT pacer Sandeep Warrier dismissed three batters in the Powerplay, but DC's decision to move Axar Patel up the order paid off. He, along with Rishabh Pant, rebuilt the innings, taking their time to get set and slowly expanding their range of shots.

Axar was eventually dismissed for 66 - his highest IPL score - but DC's scoring didn't stop. Pant was joined by Tristan Stubbs (26 off 7), and the two wreaked havoc. The gamble from GT to bowl Sai Kishore in the 19th over backfired, as the Capitals scored 22 runs, and the final over saw Pant plundering 31 runs off Mohit Sharma's over. The GT pacer has leaked 73 runs without taking a wicket.
