Sam Worthington, who is widely known for his role as Jake Sully in James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), tried his luck outside the science-fiction genre. Released in 2023, Transfusion is a crime thriller that has garnered critical acclaim across the world. The film also marked actor Matt Nable's feature directorial debut and, hence, was one of the most anticipated Hollywood movies last year.

Story of Transfusion

In the high-octane movie Transfusion, a man named Ryan Logan (Sam Worthington), who is a former Special Force officer, gets dragged into the dangerous underworld, filled with corruption and crime. Although he's retired, he is remembered in his agency for his iconic fighting skills and strategies. He was the only one who could handle unimaginable missions. Now these skills are the only weapon he has to save his family. He faces a terrifying enemy from the underworld who has kidnapped his family and is blackmailing him now.

The underworld enemy promises to rip his life apart and their ultimate target is his son. In a race against time and driven by desperate love, the former soldier must find a solution. The clock is ticking and the stakes escalate with each passing moment. Ryan begins to sharpen his skills, which are his only weapon now, and immerses himself in finding routes. Will he be able to catch the criminal and save his son? And also disclose the crimes happening towards the government?

Unpredictable connection between the first half and second half

Transfusion begins with a thrilling and dangerous mission in Iraq, in which Ryan is injured physically and mentally. This is the backstory of Logan, which gives you a hint as to why he left the Special Forces. The second scene takes you to a soothing moment between a father and his 8-year-old son. It also shows Ryan’s loving side with his pregnant wife Justine (Phoebe Tonkin). These sweet moments transport you far away from the deadly crimes that are taking place in the world.
