Maharani 4 continues Rani Bharti's journey as she moves from state to national politics to challenge the Prime Minister. This story focuses on his strategic power play and the intense conflict that arose from his entry into the national political arena. The cast includes Huma Qureshi as Rani Bharti and other returning actors like Sohum Shah and Amit Sial, with new additions like Shardul Bharadwaj, Vipin Sharma, Rajeshwari Sachdev and Darsheel Safary. The season premieres on SonyLIV (OTTplay Premium) on November 7, 2025. Ahead of it, Shardul had a chat with OTTplay, where he shared important angles related to Maharani 4.

Speaking with OTTplay, Shardul Bharadwaj opened up about his reaction when he learned that he was cast for Maharani 4. He said, "My family watches the show, and for this reason, I have also watched it. People around me watched Maharani, so my mother was really happy when I told her."

Shardul also said that he liked the creator Subhash Kapoor and director Puneet Prakash's work, and he was very excited as he met a bunch of people who were really fun to work with, who do not take themselves too seriously but are very serious about what they do.

Revealing his character in Maharani 4, Shardul said, "My character is the middle son, I have an elder sister (Shweta Basu Prasad), I have a younger brother, played by Darsheel Safary. I am the middle son, and the character tries to do good to his family and his people surrounding him, and he tries to prove that he also deserves it."

When asked what he hopes the fans would take away from his character, Shardul added, "I want them not to see the character from one shade because there are many shades that have been written on the script and have been tried to be attempted, so it needs to be seen from multiple shades."

When Shardul was asked how his character fits into the politically charged series Maharani 4 narrative, he said, "I would like to add also about family. Family is the centre of it, and you cannot fit it into a specific genre. It is political drama, family drama, action-packed thriller; it is all in one."

Speaking about the working experience with Maharani Season 4, including Huma Qureshi, Shardul said, "They accepted me as their family member. When you shoot out of station, you stay away from your family for a long time, so this familiar environment helped you as a human being and as an actor."

Talking about how he prepared his role, Bharadwaj said, "The script has explored interpersonal relationships strongly. Whether it is brother-sister, mother, or political team members, to execute and find something new from it, this was the main work, and that is why we worked so hard."

When asked how he views the OTT space now, especially when politically bold shows like Maharani can reach a wide audience instantly, Shardul said, "See, wise men also cannot say where OTT is going. Audiences, journalists are in a better position to actually think and articulate what it is."

Lastly, when asked about the possibility of Maharani 5, Shardul laughed and said, "I do not know anything about it."
