March 2026 Tamil films to watch

March isn’t marked by big releases, but has some prominent films hitting theatres. While Tamil cinema is still yet to open majorly, given no star films are scheduled to release this month, it does not mean the theatres are going go dry. After successful small budget films like With Love and Thaai Kizhavi, March is gearing up for five films to hit theatres in Tamil.

Kenatha Kanom – March 13

Kenatha Kanom is a Tamil rural comedy drama which features actor-comedian Yogi Babu in the lead role. A film by late director Suresh Sangaiah who had passed away due to jaundice, Kenatha Kanom will be his posthumous release. Kenatha Kanom is set in a village which is drought-stricken thanks to water scarcity. When the villagers decide to dig up a well, they make a startling discovery that leads to their village being taken over by archaeological department. Lovelyn Chandrasekhar, Ramakrishnan, Raichel Rabecca, George Mariyam, Mottai Rajendiran, Kavitha Barathi, Kalaipandiyan, Hello Kandasamy are part of the cast.

Aaranya Kaandam re-release – March 13

Aaranya Kaandam is a 2011 Tamil gangster action drama which marked the debut of filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja. Widely known as the first neo-noir film of Tamil cinema, Thiagarajan Kumararaja's film is a hyperlink drama about six individuals whose lives cross at crucial points. Now widely recognised for its cult status even as its initial theatrical release was regarded as failure, Aaranya Kaandam stars Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj and debutants Yasmin Ponnappa, Guru Somasundaram, and others.

Youth – March 19

Youth is an upcoming entertainer, which is written and directed by Ken Karunaas in his debut. He also triples up as the lead actor in the film. Youth is touted to be a school-based romantic comedy film about a teenage boy as he navigates through romances, friendships, and parental love. Ken Karunaas, who had appeared in films like Asuran and Vaathi, will be starring in his debut as lead actor. With Youth having good word of mouth before release, the music is scored by GV Prakash.

Dhurandhar 2 – March 19

Dhurandhar 2 or Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is an upcoming Hindi spy action thriller, which serves as the sequel to the 2025 hit film. Dhurandhar 2 will be dubbed and released in Tamil as well, owing to the success of the first part. Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features Ranveer Singh in the lead role along with Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor and Gaurav Gera. Dhurandhar 2 is about an undercover agent who is on the mission to infiltrate into Karachi's terrorism and crime syndicates which pose threats to India.

Happy Raj – March 27

Happy Raj is an upcoming romantic drama headlined by GV Prakash Kumar and Sri Gouri Priya. With actors Abbas, George Maryan, Geetha Kailasam and others, Happy Raj is written and directed by Maria Raja Elanchezian in his debut. Music composed by Justin Prabhakaran, the film is shot by Madhan Chirstopher and edited by Selva RK. Happy Raj will be a romantic comedy drama about a young couple who are in a relationship, as their parents get involved eventually.
