The 71st National Film Awards for the year 2023 are out and it has sprung a few surprises. While there are a few films that won multiple awards, there are a few that also surprised everyone. Here is the list of all the Telugu films that won big at the awards.

First in line is Bhagavanth Kesari. The Nandamuri Balakrishna action drama has won the Best Telugu Film for the year 2023. This has come as a huge surprise, as there have been many other impressive Telugu films like Balagam that were in the lineup. Next in line is HanuMan, which won two awards, the Best VFX and Action choreography Awards. Halo Hues Studios is behind the graphics of the film, which made just over Rs 300 crore at the box office. Made on a very low budget, the Teja Sajja film shocked one and all with its impressive VFX work. Prasanth Varma directed the film, which had some amazing stunts that were canned on a stylish note. GV Prakash won the Best Music Director award for his amazing score in the Dhanush film Vaathi, also titled Sir in Telugu. Directed by Venky Atluri, the film has amazing songs and a terrific background score. Mastaru Mastaru, the super hit song, took the film's craze to another level.

The best child actress award went to Sukriti Badreddi, daughter of Pushpa fame director Sukumar, for the heartwarming film, Gandhi Thatha Chettu. She made her Telugu debut with the social drama and won the hearts of many with her sensational performance.

Baby wins two awards at the 71st National Film Awards 2023

Meanwhile, the super hit Telugu film, Baby won two awards, Best Screenplay Award for director Sai Rajesh and the Best playback singer male for PVN S Rohit for the song Premistunna. The romantic drama produced by SKN made just over Rs 100 crore at the box office. This is Sai Rajesh's second national award after Colour Photo. Baby can now be streamed here on OTTplay Premium.
