Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who was celebrated in Tamil cinema for his films like Kaithi and Vikram , has been facing criticism from fans, amid his next film announcement. While the director announced his next directorial with actor Allu Arjun, fans have grown tired waiting for the filmmaker to start with his much-anticipated Kaithi 2.

Kaithi 2: Did Karthi too is leaving his hopes on Lokesh Kanagaraj’s sequel?

When Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi released starring Karthi, the film was met with good reception. It further came in news when the filmmaker connected the story of Kaithi with Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram and formed a cinematic universe now called as LCU. Ever since then, Lokesh has been asked constantly by fans to do a sequel Kaithi 2.

Subsequently, he made Leo, Coolie, and when fans wanted him to kickstart Kaithi 2, Lokesh announced his next direction with Allu Arjun. Further, Karthi who was recently questioned by press, the actor said that the Kaithi 2 should be answered by the director himself. Fans of LCU have further been irked by this, and feel that LCU might never be revived. Some even shared an old clip of Lokesh Kanagaraj confirming that Kaithi 2 is his next after Coolie, only for it to not happen now.

Meanwhile, the next instalment of LCU is coming in form of Benz. It stars Raghava Lawrence, Samyuktha and Nivin Pauly among others in prominent roles. It is helmed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and produced by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

What is AA 23 about?

Lokesh Kanagaraj will be joining forces with Pushpa fame actor Allu Arjun which is tentatively called AA 23. The film's music will be scored by Anirudh Ravichnader with the cast yet to be announced. The project will go on floors this year. It is speculated that the project is based on Irumbu Kai Mayavi script that Lokesh had first pitched to Suriya.
