After Rocketry, Madhavan to do a biopic on inventor GD Naidu, the 'Edison of India'

It looks like Madhavan is now on a biopic spree. After playing the aerospace scientist Nambi Narayanan in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, the actor is all set to play the lead in a biopic of ace innovator GD Naidu. Gopalswamy Doraisamy Naidu is often referred to as the 'Edison of India' due to his myriad inventions. The film, titled G.D. Naidu, will delve into the achievements of the ace innovator. The team dropped a poster from the film, in which the protagonist is seen intensely looking at a car in a garage along with some machinery and tools.

GD Naidu was born to a farmer in Kalangal in 1893 was a school dropout. But that didn't deter him from learning and brushing up his knowledge. He is credited with creating the first electric motor in India, an independent internal combustion stroke engine, super-thin razor blades, a distance adjuster for film cameras, a vote-recording machine which is tamper-proof and a kerosene-run fan, to name a few. His contributions also extend to the research in many varieties of cotton, maize and papaya. His works are preserved at the popular GD Museum in Coimbatore. GD Naidu was also a philanthropist at heart.

Mediaone Global Entertainment limited signed an agreement with GD Naidu Charities and acquired the permissions to make a biopic on the great inventor from Coimbatore.  It was not long ago that Madhavan had dropped a brand new look of his in which he had lost weight. The new look instantly went viral on social media.  Madhavan had simply captioned the picture,“New look for a new project. Finally, Super excited (sic).'' Now, it looks like the new look is for the biopic.

Meanwhile, Madhavan is also teaming up for a film with Thiruchitrambalam director Mithran Jawahar. Ponniyin Selvan writer B Jeyamohan has been roped in to pen the dialogues and screenplay. The film, which is yet to get a title, is said to be a light-hearted one but not a complete comedy caper. Madhavan had then written to Mithran Jawahar on his social media handle, "Such a pleasure to be joining hands with you sir. I’m so looking forward to working with you and having a great time, doing the film and creating magic (sic)."
