The multiplex giant PVR recently announced its performance results of the first quarter that ended on March 31. They revealed their plans to open more screens in the next financial year and mentioned that box office performance of films across the country witnessed a surge in March, when compared to January and February.

It listed six films in different languages in terms of setting the cash registers ringing irrespective of its final BO verdict. Ajith-starrer Valimai, which was released on February 24, is the only Tamil movie that got featured in the list. Rajamouli's RRR, Prabhas' Radhe Shyam, Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi, Pawan Kalyan's Bheemla Nayak and Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files are other movies that secured a place in the elite list.

According to their list, Valimai (streaming on Zee5), which was directed by H Vinoth, earned 105 crore from across the country. The action thriller bankrolled by Boney Kapoor was the first big ticket flick in Kollywood to be released in 2022. It was released in around 1,000 theatres in Tamil Nadu for the first time.

Though the film was released in Telugu and Hindi, the dubbed versions couldn't put up impressive performances in Tollywood and Bollywood. Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya and Achyuth Kumar among others essayed key roles in the film which received appreciation for its action sequences.

Ajith, Vinoth and Boney Kapoor are currently busy with AK 61 (tentative title) the shooting of which is happening at a brisk pace in Hyderabad. Manju Warrier has been roped in to play a pivotal character in the movie which is billed as a heist thriller.

Ghibran and Nirav Shah have come on board to compose music and handle cinematography respectively. Kavin and Veera are also said to have joined the cast.
