Golmaal 5 is one of the most-awaited instalments. During the theatrical screening of Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2, Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 5 was subtly confirmed. A recent report mentioned that Akshay Kumar has joined Golmaal 5 as an antagonist.

Is Akshay Kumar lead antagonist in Golmaal 5?

As per a Variety India report, Akshay Kumar has now joined the cast of Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 5. In a significant casting development, Akshay Kumar has been roped in as the lead antagonist for the next Golmaal film, pitting him against Ajay Devgn and the franchise’s ensemble cast.

Built on a larger scale than its predecessors, this film aims to amplify the madness and retain the original humour that has been an integral part of the series since 2006. With the introduction of fantasy elements, the narrative moves beyond conventional prank-based comedy, hinting at a new creative direction.

Who are the cast of Golmaal 5?

Apart from Akshay, Golmaal 5 marks Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu and Shreyas Talpade return, with Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar.

Reports suggest that Sharman Joshi is also likely to return, while Kareena Kapoor Khan might also return. Meanwhile, as per reports, the shoot is all set to start at Film City, Mumbai, by February’s end, aiming to hit theatres in early 2027.

Mid-Day earlier reported that Ajay Devgn will begin shooting for Golmaal 5 in March 2026. A source close to the production told the portal, “Director Abhishek Pathak wants to ensure that the storytelling is as taut as the first two parts. The team plans to begin shooting in Goa by December and wrap up by March 2026.”

Talking about Kareena Kapoor Khan's return to the Golmaal franchise, the portal mentioned that Kareena shares great chemistry with Ajay. Since she led Golmaal Returns [2008] and Golmaal 3 [2010], her presence brings a nostalgic charm.

Is Golmaal 5 shooting postponed?

Recently, two gunmen opened fire outside Shetty Tower, the residence of Shetty, sparking panic in Mumbai’s Juhu area. At around 12:45 a.m. a bullet shattered the glass of a gym on the first floor. Reports indicate that at least five shots were fired into the building. Fortunately, although Sethi was present at the time, no injuries were reported.

Mid-Day has now learned that the set of Golmaal 5 will undergo security measures. Production is set to commence soon. Despite widespread industry speculation about possible delays, shooting is currently scheduled to begin in late February. However, significant changes in operational logistics have been reported.
