Alia Bhatt spills the beans on 'special film' Love & War: 'Everyone brings something different to the table'

Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. The film was originally scheduled to be released in December 2025, but was later pushed back to March 2026. However, it has reportedly been delayed again due to Dhurandhar Part 2 and Yash's Toxic, which are releasing on March 19, 2026. Now, amid this delay, Alia called Love & War a 'special' film.

Speaking to ETimes, Alia Bhatt opened up about Love & War. She said, “It’s a very special film. We’ve been shooting it throughout the year, and it never feels like enough. You always want one more day, one more moment, one more scene where you’re just jamming the energy.”

Alia previously worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Gangubai Kathiawadi, which earned her a National Award for Best Actress. Reuniting with SLB for Love & War, Alia said that working with him was one of her most treasured experiences because of the way he brings his magic to every single moment.

"But it’s also deeply collaborative. The energy on set is very quiet and focused. We come in, we work hard, and everyone brings something different to the table. Of course, the final magic wand is always in Sanjay sir’s hands. It is one of the most fulfilling creative experiences I’ve had on a film set," she added.

Love & War shoot and release date update

Bollywood Hungama reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War has a revised shooting schedule as the filmmaker has extended the production until May 2026. The source shared, "Ranbir, Alia and Vicky have blocked their calendars till May 2026 now. All their prior commitments stand delayed due to the increase in shoot days for Love & War."

The report also mentioned that Love & War will not release in June as Bhansali is now trying to bring it to the big screen in August or September 2026. "A date will be decided shortly. This has left some of the members of the Ramayana team disappointed, as they were hoping for a gap of at least 6 months between Love & War and Ramayana. The delay in shoots has also resulted in an increase of budgets for Love & War," the source shared.
