What to expect from Amadeus?

The original story follows 25-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who arrives at Vienna to fulfil his dream in the music world, after his controlling father's death. Mozart explores themes of genius, faith and legacy over three decades. After reaching Vienna, he falls in love with an aspiring musician Constanze Weber, and soon gets married to her.

With the help of Constanze's connection in the industry, Mozart gets in touch with famous composer Salieri, whom he instantly impresses with his work and talent. However, things turn dark when Salieri becomes jealous of Mozart's talent, popularity and fandom, and turns into a rival, leaving Mozart devastated and shocked.

Amadeus delves into Salieri's torment, his crisis of faith and his vow to bring Mozart down, intertwining music, jealousy and divine talent. The series version aims to be a bold reinterpretation, offering more depth to the classic story for a new generation.

Sharpe further revealed that the series version added Constanze’s perspective as well, which was not highlighted in the play or the 1984 movie. He shared that he never had any opera epiphany but after making Amadeus, he started to understand. For Sharpe, it's an extraordinary experience.
