Arasan: Simbu and Vetrimaaran film called Saamrajyam in Telugu; Junior NTR to unveil promo

Simbu's Arasan and Dhanush-starrer Vada Chennai comes from the same Vetrimaaran universe. Arasan marks Simbu's first collaboration with the director.

Arasan is the upcoming Tamil film starring Silambarasan in the lead role. We had earlier reported that it would be helmed by director Vetrimaaran and the promo of Arasan is set to be unveiled very soon. The makers have chosen to release the promo first in a few theatres through a screening, after which it will be unveiled online on Friday. In the latest, the makers also said that Arasan will release in Telugu as Saamrajyam.

Arasan: Makers reveal Telugu title

Director Vetrimaaran will be collaborating with actor Silambarasan for the first time with Arasan. The director had earlier revealed that Arasan will be set in the same world as his other film, Vada Chennai. With Silambarasan playing the lead role in Arasan, fans are excited to see the promo, which is to be revealed online on Friday, and a day prior, through a theatre screening.

Ahead of this, the makers of Arasan revealed the Telugu title as Saamrajyam. Junior NTR will be unveiling the promo. It is expected to be five minutes long, with Anirudh Ravichander scoring the music. Filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar is also expected to appear in the Arasan promo.

Arasan: Is it Vada Chennai 2?

With Vetrimaaran saying that Arasan is in the same world as Vada Chennai, fans began to theorise that it is the sequel to the critically acclaimed gangster actioner. However, Arasan is not a sequel to the film. The filmmaker had confirmed that the Vada Chennai sequel will be Anbuvin Ezhuchi, which will revolve around Dhanush’s character. But Arasan will have certain characters from Vada Chennai. More details on Arasan are expected to be revealed during the promo in the coming days.

Produced by and starring Dhanush, the gangster action drama revolves around gang wars that take place in the underbelly of Chennai’s northern suburbs.
