Ashakal Ayiram: Jayaram reunites with Kalidas on-screen after 22 years for G Prajith's next

The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Ashakal Ayiram, have dropped its first poster today (July 7). It comes as an exciting news because, after 22 years since the premiere of Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum, Jayaram will be sharing the screen with his son, Kalidas Jayaram.

The first look provides an overview of the roles that Jayaram and Kalidas portray. The son seems to portray a youngster, while the father plays a middle-aged role. They are seen going down a road in different directions while turning around to look at one another. Further details on the rest of the cast are expected in the coming days. G Prajith, who made his directorial debut with Oru Vadakkan Selfie, has helmed this movie. Aravind Rajendran and Jude Anthany Joseph have penned the screenplay for Ashakal Ayiram, which is bankrolled by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies. Sanal Dev will compose the soundtracks and background score for the film.

The poster was shared by the crew and lead actors on their social media pages. "From sharing the screen as a wide-eyed child with my Appa -playing his son both in reel and real life - to standing beside him again as an actor shaped by years of learning, this journey feels like a full circle. It’s more than just a film. It’s an emotion, a reunion, a dream reborn," wrote Kalidas on his post.

Jayaram and Kalidas's upcoming films in 2025

Kalidas made his acting debut with the Jayaram-starrer Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in 2000. He also played the actor's son in the acclaimed Malayalam film, Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum. The young star then rose to fame with a number of performances in movies such as Vikram and Poomaram. Jayaram, meanwhile, recently starred in Suriya's Retro. He is busy in the Tamil and Telugu industries and hasn't done many Malayalam films recently. Abraham Ozler, his most recent Malayalam film is available for streaming on OTTplay Premium and JioHotstar.
