Director Jis Joy had earlier this week confirmed exclusively to OTTplay that his upcoming thriller Innale Vare, which has Asif Ali, Antony Varghese, Nimisha Sajayan and Reba Monica John in the lead roles, will be an OTT release . While the filmmaker didn’t reveal the platform as the deal was yet to be signed, we now hear that the contract has been signed.

Sony LIV is reported to have bagged the rights for the movie, which is based on a story developed by Bobby and Sanjay. There has been no official confirmation regarding this yet. Incidentally, the rights of the scriptwriters’ previous two films – Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi-starrer Kaanekkaane and Dulquer Salmaan’s Salute – too were also bought by the platform.

The upcoming film will mark the OTT debut of Asif and Antony, whose Ajagajantharam is also streaming on Sony LIV. On choosing a direct-to-OTT release for the film, Jis had told us, “If we were to release Innale Vare in cinema halls, we would have to wait till July for the next available slot. Even then, there’s no guarantee that ours would be the only film to release that Friday.” The director says that till July, there are at least two new releases every Friday and so it made sense to opt for a streaming route.

Innale Vare’s idea had originated from a phone call Jis received from Kunchacko Boban last year. Asif plays an actor in the film. Jis, however, clarifies that Asif’s role is not based on Kunchacko, but it’s inspired from an incident that had happened to the Aniyathipraavu actor’s friend.

The film has Nimisha playing an Infopark employee and Antony essaying the role of a technician. Reba will be seen playing Asif’s love interest in the film, which is expected to release in April. Meanwhile, Sony LIV will be streaming Mammootty’s Puzhu next.
