The story centers on Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy, whose father is murdered by Spanish conquistadors. Yohualli flees to the capital city of Tenochtitlan, where he gets trained in a temple of the Bat God, Tzinacan, to develop power and earn weapons to confront the Spanish invasion. Along the way, he encounters aliens like the Jaguar Woman and the conquistador, Hernan Cortes.

Yohualli Coatl eventually becomes a masked hero to protect the King and his community people. Apart from fighting against the conquistador, Coatl must fight with the Joker, who used to be a high priest to King Moctezuma II, but later loses his sanity, disfigures himself, and eventually betrays his people to join hands with Hernan Cortes.

Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires grossed $663 million at the box office worldwide, as per Box Office Mojo. The animated flick ranked eighth at the box office in Mexico during its opening weekend and was the fourth-highest-grossing animated movie as well.
