Madharaasi, the recently released Tamil action thriller featuring actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, has crossed Rs 100 crore at the box office, within two weeks of releasing in theatres. The film, written and directed by filmmaker AR Murugadoss, features various known faces and is currently running in theatres.

Sivakarthikeyan last starred in the Tamil action thriller Madharaasi. The film released in theatres on September 5, and has completed two weeks of big screen run. While within a few weeks the film will be out on OTT, the action thriller has already collected Rs 100 crore at the box office worldwide.

Written and directed by AR Murugadoss in his comeback to Tamil cinema, Madharaasi currently ranks seventh highest grossing Tamil film so far, trailing behind Coolie, Good Bad Ugly, Retro, Dragon, Vidaamuyarchi and Kuberaa. Given the film had opened to positive reception, Madharaasi is expected to make little more money before it completes the four-week run and finds its streaming home.

Madharaasi on OTT:

Madharaasi’s post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by Prime Video. Those with OTTplay Premium subscription can top up their existing plans and acquire Prime Video. While a release date is yet to be announced, it is expected that the Sivakarthikeyan film will tentatively begin streaming from October 3.

Starring Rukmini Vasanth, Biju Menon, Vidyut Jammwal, Vikranth and others, the film contains a warning message on gun culture. It revolves around NIA’s secret mission to eradicate the smuggling of guns into Tamil Nadu by hiring a man with Fregoli delusion condition.

Madharaasi marks the first time Sivakarthikeyan is working with AR Murugadoss. The filmmaker who had found failure in his earlier Hindi film Sikander, made his re-entry to Tamil cinema with a bang and delivered a commercially successful film.
