Set during the intense days of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, Border 2 (2026) presents an epic war saga following the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force as they respond to Pakistan’s offensive under Operation Chengiz Khan. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film stars Sunny Deol as Lt. Col. Fateh Singh Kaler, joined by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in a powerful story of valor, brotherhood, and sacrifice.

The film focuses on the broader 1971 Indo-Pak war, moving beyond just the Battle of Longewala, focusing on Operation Chengiz Khan. It highlights combined operations, featuring the Army, Air Force, and Navy, with subplots including the war at sea and in the air.

The story follows Lt. Col. Fateh Singh Kaler (Sunny Deol) leading a battalion, with Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya (Varun Dhawan), Pilot Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon (Diljit Dosanjh), and Navy officer M.S. Rawat (Ahan Shetty). It mixes intense action with personal stories, featuring flashbacks to the 1965 war, highlighting themes of patriotism, friendship, and the personal sacrifices of soldiers.

Who plays what in Border 2?

In Border 2, Sunny Deol returns as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri. Varun Dhawan portrays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, the Param Vir Chakra awardee known for his bravery at the Battle of Basantar.

Diljit Dosanjh plays Officer of the Indian Air Force Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, who defended the Srinagar Air Base during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. Ahan Shetty appears as an Indian Navy officer.

Apart from them, the supporting cast includes Mona Singh as Surinder Kaur Chandpuri, wife of Major Kuldeep, Medha Rana as Dhano Devi, wife of Hoshiar Singh, and Sonam Bajwa as the on-screen wife of Sekhon, although the real-life officer was unmarried.

As per Sacnilk, Border 2 earned Rs. 392.40 crore at the domestic box office (India gross). On the other hand, it minted Rs. 449.65 crore at the worldwide box office.
