What's the plot of Border 2

Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, is an upcoming Indian war epic set during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, focusing on untold stories of bravery across the Army, Air Force, and Navy. It highlights inter-branch operations and sacrifices. The narrative promises a grand scale, emotional depth, and patriotic fervour. Border 2 explores India's response to Pakistan's preemptive strikes (Operation Chengiz Khan) and highlights themes of courage and national pride. It is the spiritual sequel to the 1997 film Border.

As per reports, Border 2 will have a runtime of 3 hours and 19 minutes. This will make it slightly shorter than the recently released Dhurandhar, which was 3 hours and 34 minutes long. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

Who plays what in Border 2

In Border 2, Sunny Deol will return as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri.

Varun Dhawan will play Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya was an Indian Army officer awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC) for extraordinary bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, specifically for his leadership at the Battle of Basantar. He led his company to capture Jarpal. Despite being seriously wounded, he repelled multiple counterattacks, even manning a machine gun himself, displaying extreme courage and leadership.

Dijit Dosanjh will play the role of Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was an officer of the Indian Air Force. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration during the war, in recognition of his sole defence of the Srinagar Air Base against air strikes by the Pakistan Air Force during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.

On the other hand, Ahan Shetty will play the role of an Indian Navy officer.

Apart from them, Mona Singh will portray the role of Major Kuldeep’s (Sunny Deol) wife, Mrs. Surinder Kaur Chandpuri, Medha Rana will play the role of Varun Dhawan’s wife, Dhano Devi, and Sonam Bajwa is expected to play the role of Diljit Dosanjh's on-screen wife. Meanwhile, in real life, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was unmarried and had a sister named Inderjeet Boparai.

Border 2 is off to a very strong start at the box office. Within 24 hours of opening advance bookings in India, the film has crossed Rs. 2.5 crore in day-1 pre-sales, selling 73,000+ tickets across 11,000 shows. It has already beaten Dhurandhar, which was at Rs. 1 crore, while Gadar 2 stood at around Rs. 2.2 crore.
