Chiru153, the official remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, starring Chiranjeevi has been in the news for some time now. The movie is directed by Mohan Raja and produced under Konidela Productions and Super Good Films. Earlier this week, the makers announced that there would be a ‘Supreme Reveal’ about the movie on the eve of Chiranjeevi’s 66th birthday. It’s now official that the film has been titled Godfather.

In the poster, you could see the silhouette of ‘Godfather’ Chiru holding a gun looking far into the dark. Within a few minutes after revealing the title, Mohan Raja gave more reasons for the fans to be overjoyed with his tweet to wait for the motion poster at 6:03 pm.

In the motion poster featuring the same image from the first look, Chiranjeevi’s figure casts a large shadow of the King in chess pieces across a large board, casting suspicions into the origin and hidden history of the character. Additionally, it is believed that Nayanthara and Satyadev Kancharana will be joining the cast soon. Mohan Raja took charge of the project after two directors Sujeeth and VV Vinayak stepped down for various reasons.Mohan Raja’s last directorial venture was the critical as well as commercial super hit Velaikkaran. starring Sivakarthikeyan and Fahadh Fassil. He is also known for delivering back to back hits in his every Jayam Ravi collaboration from Jayam to Thani Oruvan.

As per reports, Chiranjeevi has finished the shoot of Acharya and has begun his schedule for Godfather in Hyderabad. He was last seen in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, playing Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, a Telugu freedom fighter. The movie was hailed by critics and fans but did not perform well at the box office despite comprising an ensemble cast and rich cinematography.

Music director Thaman has been roped in to compose for Godfather. The movie is the remake of the 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer starring Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Vivek Oberoi and Tovino Thomas in lead roles, telling the story of an international crime lord and kingpin who lives peacefully as a local politician. This directorial debut of actor Prithviraj went on to become the biggest commercial success of that year, collecting more than Rs 200 crore.
