Coolie director Lokesh Kanagaraj will be making his acting debut in an upcoming action film to be helmed by Arun Matheswaran whose project with Dhanush has been delayed to due reasons unknown

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his films like Kaithi, Vikram and Master, has his next directorial Coolie coming up for release. However, much like filmmakers Selvaraghavan, Gautham Menon, and SJ Suryah, Lokesh too is all set to make his acting debut. Affirming the rumours, Lokesh will be uniting with filmmaker Arun Matheswaran for a film.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to don a new hat as he will be making his acting debut very soon. He will be collaborating with filmmaker Arun Matheswaran who has made films like Rocky and Saani Kaayidham.
Lokesh said that he and Arun Matheswaran became friends after getting to talk about films and each other's works. "We used to talk about craft. It was during Ram sir's birthday party, I was asked if I wish to act. I did not know if I wished, but would like to try out an action film. That is when he was working on Ilaiyaraaja sir's biopic with Dhanush sir."

Lokesh said that since the project is getting delayed due to some reasons, and added that he had about eight months before Kaithi 2, he decided to act. "So, I called up Arun and he narrated the story. We did a test look and he is convinced,” Lokesh said.

The Lokesh-Arun project has not yet been announced formally, with the details on cast and crew yet to be announced. Meanwhile, it does look like the Ilaiyaraaja biopic which was announced with Dhanush not happen anytime soon.
Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial Coolie featuring Rajinikanth in the lead role, is all set to hit big screens on August 14. The film is produced by Sun Pictures and stars Upendra, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Aamir Khan. With Anirudh Ravichander scoring the music, the film’s trailer will be unveiled on August 2.
