D54 officially goes on floors: Mamitha Baiju, Suraj Venjaramoodu onboard for Vignesh Raja film

We had earlier reported that director Vignesh Raja will be doing a film for Vels Film International. On Thursday, the makers officially made the announcement that it will be D54, starring Dhanush. The film commenced shooting on Thursday, with GV Prakash scoring the music.

Director Vignesh Raja made a smashing debut with the 2023 crime thriller film Por Thozhil, featuring Sarathkumar and Ashok Selvan. Following this, the director’s second outing is going to be massive, given he will be teaming up with actor Dhanush. The film is tentatively called D54 and goes on floors from Thursday. The poster shows Dhanush standing alone amid a burning field of cotton.

D54 is backed by Vels Film International and also stars KS Ravikumar, Mamitha Baiju, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, Jayaram, Pritivi Pandiraj, and others. GV Prakash, a regular collaborator of Dhanush, will be scoring the music, with the release date yet to be set.

The film will be written by Vignesh Raja along with Alfred Prakash. The duo had written Por Thozhil too. Theni Eswar will be cranking the camera with Sreejith Sarang handling the edits. A release date for D54 has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, Dhanush’s line-up includes Idly Kadai, which he is directing, a biopic on Abdul Kalam, a film with Mari Selvaraj, and the Hindi film Tere Ishq Mein.
