Dhadak 2's first song Bas Ek Dhadak is all about Shreya Ghoshal's soulful voice. The track, which is the title track, evokes nostalgia of Dhadak (starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles). This track sees the lead characters falling in love and choosing each other despite their circumstances. Netizens, in particular, love how Shreya Ghoshal and Jubin Nautiyal have collaborated for the song.
More recently, the makers had unveiled the Dhadak 2 trailer. The film spoke about caste differences and how that would affect the couple's life. The tale is the recreated version of Mari Selvaraj's Tamil film, Pariyerum Perumal. While the Hindi audiences had a mixed reaction to the film, the Tamil viewers outright rejected it.
Dhadak franchise commenced with Karan Johar adapting Nagraj Manjule's Marathi film Sairat. The original movie became iconic, and Johar gave Bollywood a launchpad to Boney Kapoor-Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor, along with Shahid Kapoor's step-brother Ishaan Khatter, with the very film titled Dhadak. The film had also received a mixed bag of reviews, especially because Sairat fans did not find the movie up to the mark.
Shazia Iqbal-directed Dhadak 2 is scheduled for theatrical release on August 1, 2025.
