Thiruchitrambalam, which hit the screens last Thursday, is Dhanush's theatrical release after four back-to-back OTT releases, which comprises two Tamil movies and one each in Hindi and English. The Mithran Jawahar directorial opened to positive reviews from critics and the audience.

The actor's performance along with Nithya Menen's screen presence have been garnering appreciation from movie lovers. Anirudh's background score is another factor which has been attracting the audience. The movie has brought back the popular DnA (Dhanush and Anirudh) combo after a seven-year hiatus.

Thiruchitrambalam has set the box office on fire and its numbers have surprised the trade. The film, which did not have early morning shows, collected more than seven crores in Tamil Nadu on its first day. Trade analysts point out that the total gross would have been more had there been regular 4 am or 5 am shows for the movie.

According to a few box office trackers, the film produced by Sun Pictures has grossed 50 crores from across the globe after its four-day weekend run in theatres. Fans of Dhanush are now eager to know if the movie would end up as their favourite star's biggest grosser.

Since there are no big Tamil films releasing till the end of this month, Thiruchitrambalam is poised to set cash registers ringing till August 31. The last day of the month will witness the box office clash between Cobra, Pisasu 2 and Natchathiram Nagargiradhu.

Dhanush's next film, the bilingual project Vaathi, is likely to be released in theatres this year. The film directed by Venky Atluri will be released in Tamil and Telugu. Captain Miller and Naane Varuven are other movies he currently has in his kitty.
