Dhruva Sarja’s film Martin was meant to be a 2022 film – delayed because of VFX issues, the team had maintained, which, as we now know is because those entrusted with the work, cheated producer Uday K Mehta and did not meet the deliverables, despite payments made for the same. A cheating case is currently underway, with the accused parties making further allegations that the film’s director AP Arjun and a few other technicians were beneficiaries of commissions paid to get the work allotted to the former.

Amid all of these developments, the question that has emerged is if Martin will meet its date with audiences this time around. Arjun is bullish when he says that “Martin will, 100%, release on October 11”. As of now, he says, it is the trailer release that is delayed. The team’s plan was to roll it out on July 29 at an ‘international’ press meet in Mumbai, but that has now been pushed ahead to August 5, to give delegates enough time to make travel arrangements.

Martin VFX cheating case: Director AP Arjun in trouble?

The filmmaker, who finally admitted that there has been a difference of opinion between him and producer Uday K Mehta, after claiming all was well earlier, also addressed the fact that Martin has overshot its budget multi-fold. In the past, there were reports claiming that the more Martin got delayed, the more Uday K Mehta was drowning in debt. The budget of Martin, as it stands today, reckons Arjun, is what is required to make a pan-Indian film of this scale. Although the team has not officially revealed a figure, given that promotions and the release is still pending, sources say that well over Rs 100 crore has been spent on the making of the film already.
