An image of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 character Jaskirat smoking went viral - Here's how Aditya Dhar reacted to the same

Dhurandhar 2, officially titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has successfully completed a week at the Box Office and entered Rs. 1000 crore club with its worldwide collection, but there’s a controversy around the film which works against it. There is a scene where Ranveer Singh’s Jaskirat is seen smoking while wearing a turban. This has led to protests, post which Aditya Dhar officially responded to the allegation by assuring that it is the work of AI and is not something he promotes.
Experience the gritty realism and intense storytelling of Aditya Dhar’s cinematic journey by streaming his acclaimed works—from the high-stakes action of Uri: The Surgical Strike and the political depth of Article 370 to the hard-hitting dialogues of Aakrosh—all in one place on OTTplay Premium.
In a media statement, Aditya Dhar shared that while he was deeply grateful and indebted for the overwhelming love that Dhurandhar: The Revenge had received from audiences across the country and around the world, it had come to his attention that certain individuals were circulating manipulated visuals by morphing officially released promotional material using artificial intelligence to create false and misleading narratives. He explained that one such fabricated image falsely depicted the character Jaskirat smoking while wearing a turban, which was completely untrue and not part of the film or any official material released by them. The filmmaker described it as a deliberate act of misrepresentation intended to provoke and create mischief.
He further stated unequivocally that he held the highest respect for the Sikh community and that every portrayal in the film had been handled with utmost sensitivity, dignity, and responsibility. He emphasized that any attempt to suggest otherwise through doctored content was malicious and dishonest. Finally, Dhar urged audiences to rely only on official content and to watch the film as it was intended, rather than falling prey to AI-generated misinformation being circulated with ulterior motives, adding that such acts would be dealt with firmly.
Like the name suggests Dhurandhar 2 is the continuation of the first part which released in 2025. The first part focused on Hamza’s journey into Lyari, while introducing all the characters he had to deal with. His journey continues, this time with more insight into his past as Jaskirat who aimed to become an army officer but had to take justice into his own hands before turning into a spy where his life was in danger every single day.
