It is Pranav Mohanlal’s birthday on July 13, 2025, and the makers of his upcoming Malayalam film, Dies Irae have dropped a special poster. The new poster features Pranav in a rugged avatar, and has already piqued the interest of the netizens, who have started decoding and speculating about the film and the young star’s character. With comments ranging from ‘cult member’ to ‘Illuminati’ references, here is what the netizens have said about Pranav Mohanlal’s poster.

Dies Irae is an upcoming Malayalam film, helmed by Rahul Sadasivan. Like Rahul’s previous directorials, Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam, Dies Irae is also a horror-themed film with Pranav Mohanlal in the lead. On the midnight of July 13, the makers dropped the new poster, a red-tinted one, featuring Pranav. Three pairs of legs are also seen in the background. This has started discussions in Malayalam film groups on Reddit and Twitter, with some saying that the poster hints that Pranav looks like a cult member.

“Is he some sort of cult member sacrificing women he seduces??? u can see 2 other women on the floor. Damn interesting, Rahul Sadasivan so no doubts on the quality,” the comment read.

Another hawk-eyed netizen pointed out the goat-like figurine with glowing eyes behind the actor, and asked if this was an Illuminati reference. Yet another person asked if it was an icon of sin.

People also asked Rahul Sadasivan what he is cooking, while some others said they have great hopes for the film, saying they have trust in his talent.

One person recalled a previous comment of the director and said, “While Pranav isn’t a great actor I remember Vineeth Sreenivasan say that he has great potential to play dark characters.”

Pranav was also seen in a cameo role in Mohanlal-starrer Empuraan, which released in theatres in March 2025.

Dies Irae release

The upcoming horror film is set to release for Halloween this year. The filming began in April 2025 and it was wrapped up in May. There will be 5 months of post-production.

Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios have backed this film, which has Shehnad Jalal serving as the DOP. The rest of the tech crew includes Jothish Shankar as the art director, Christo Xavier as the music director and Shafique Mohamed Ali as the editor. Other cast details are not known.
