In early 2024, Doodh Peda Diganth Manchale was looking at potentially 4 theatrical releases that year, he got 5 – Bachelor Party, Powder, Marigold, The Judgement, Laughing Buddha - and a sixth, Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana, failed to meet this deadline, despite being announced as a February 2024 theatrical outing. It’s taken the makers more than a year to get Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana back on track.

Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana sets June release

Director Samarth Kadkol’s film has now got a new release date: Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana will be in theatres on June 13, 2025. Initially listed as a co-production between Samarth and Gurudutt Ganiga (Ambi Ning Vayyasayatho), the film now has Shakhahaari producer Rajesh Keelambi also on board, as well as Ranjani Prasad.

Diganth had been quite excited about his lineup of 2024 releases and the films that he was shooting for then, but those that made it to theatres failed to gather momentum at the box office. Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana will be his first for 2025 and reunites him with his Pancharangi co-star Nidhi Subbaiah, after 14 years. The film also stars debutante Dhanu Harsha, Rangitaranga and Shivaji Suratkal fame Radhika Narayan, with Rangitaranga and Vikrant Rona fame Nirup Bhandari in a special cameo.

According to reports, director Samarth got the idea of the film after a conversation on International Lefthanders Day a few years ago. The discussion about design flaws in day-to-day items that disadvantage lefthanders intrigued the filmmaker, who then began writing his script, a black-comedy suspense thriller. The promotional videos of the film that have been released since last year, have been quite interesting with self-deprecating humour by the cast, as they also detail that the narrative focuses on a left-handed protagonist who navigates life in a world meant for right-handers.

Meanwhile, Diganth recently joined the cast of director Akash Srivatsa’s next with Ramesh Aravind in the lead. He will also be seen in the gangster tale set in North Karnataka – Uttarakaanda – starring Daali Dhananjaya and Shivarajkumar in lead roles. The film’s currently on hold, as the director and production house are yet to figure out Shivarajkumar’s schedule since his return from the US for bladder reconstruction surgery.
