Director Magizh Thirumeni is awaiting the release of his action thriller film Vidaamuyarchi starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role. The film is slated for release on February 6 on the big screens. In a recent conversation, director Magizh spoke about how the title came into being, and how he was skeptical initially of it.

‘Vidaamuyarchi is a title that I did not suggest’

Vidaamuyarchi had disappointed fans after it was postponed from the Pongal release. However, the makers soon chose to release the film without further ado, with Vidaamuyarchi set to release on February 6. The title, Vidaamuyarchi, was initially scheduled to be released in April 2024 while it was first started. However, the delays were caused due to the climatic conditions in Azerbaijan.

The director then talked about the title of Vidaamuyarchi. When asked if it was an auspicious decision to have the title start with V, Magizh said, “I do not know that reason, but when it was first suggested, I found it bland. Let me be honest, I found it simple and how it will be received. It is not a title that I suggested.”

There can be no better title for Vidaamuyarchi: Magizh Thirumeni.

Magizh said that though the title was suggested to him and not his own, as time went by, he could not find a better title than this for the film.

"A few titles have power. For example, an old film called Badrakali was being shot, when the heroine died in a plane crash, before the film was completed. A few titles have power and similarly, Vidaamuyarchi is one such. It is testing us and if we are fit to have that title,” he added.

Magizh also said that the film has enough justification for the title. Adding that the film is about an ordinary middle-aged man’s efforts to save his world.

Vidaamuyarchi, backed by Lyca Productions, also stars Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Arav, Nikhil Nair, and others in prominent roles.
