Drishyam 3, Patriot

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal announced that his most-awaited thriller film Drishyam 3 will release on May 21, 2026. The Jeethu Joseph-helmed film was initially an April release. Even though Drishyam 3 pulled out of the April 2026 box office race, several other films are set to release in theatres next month. Here’s a look at the upcoming movies, including Tovino Thomas-led Pallichattambi and Mammootty-Mohanlal’s Patriot.

Vaazha 2

Release date: April 2, 2026

Vaazha 2 or Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros is the sequel to the 2024 sleeper hit Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys. Drishyam 3 was also earlier scheduled to release on April 2, and Vaazha 2 was in the news for choosing the same release date as the Mohanlal-starrer. But even though Drishyam 3 has pulled out, Vaazha 2 makers have not backed out from the date and also released a new poster on Monday evening. Director Vipin Das is the writer of the film, which will have a new young cast.

Pallichattambi

Release date: April 10, 2026

Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas begins his box office tryst in 2026 with Pallichattambi, directed by Dijo Jose Antony. An action-packed period film, Pallichattambi depicts the plight of the migrant farmers during the 1950s and 60s. Tovino Thomas plays the lead character, who steps up to protect the downtrodden, as was revealed in the teaser recently. Pallichattambi was initially slated to release on April 9 but was postponed by a day due to the Kerala state elections. The film stars Kayadu Lohar as the female lead.

Mohiniyattam

Release date: April 10, 2026

Actor Saiju Kurup, who was recently seen in Aadu 3, comes back with the sequel to his comedy drama film Bharathanatyam. The 2024 film focuses on Shashi, who is shocked to learn that his respectful father has another discreet marital relationship and his second wife and son come to live with their family. The sequel will follow the events after the father’s death and how the two families interact.

Patriot

Release date: April 23, 2026

Though Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 skipped April, the superstar will very much grace the silver screen next month. Mohanlal joins Mammootty for the high-octane spy thriller, helmed by Mahesh Narayanan. Patriot is the biggest among the April releases, especially with the mighty names in its ensemble cast. Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara and Kunchacko Boban are also part of the film, which brings together the Big Ms of Mollywood onscreen after 18 years.
