Dude star Mamitha Baiju's next rom-com with Premalu co-actor to kick-start soon?

After the success of Dude, Mamitha Baiju would be joining hands with her Premalu co-actor Sangeeth Prathap for an upcoming Malayalam film, touted to be another romantic-comedy.

Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju is currently enjoying all the attention coming her way with the success of her Tamil film Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan. The young actress inevitably has had to respond to questions on when she would be returning to Malayalam cinema, as the last release in her native language was Premalu in February 2024. Looks like we have an answer as her next Malayalam movie, co-starring Sangeeth Prathap, would start rolling soon, as per online trackers.

Mamitha Baiju would be joining hands with her Premalu co-actor Sangeeth Prathap for an upcoming Malayalam film, touted to be another romantic-comedy. The untitled film is helmed by Dinoy Paulose. Online trackers have said that the film, backed by Ashiq Usman, would kick-start shooting soon.

Earlier, in an OTTplay interview, the debutant director had also said that the team would probably start shooting by October 2025. Set in Kerala, the film would see Mamitha and Sangeeth play the lead roles. Though more details about the film is not known, the upcoming film would be yet another rom-com.

Mamitha played the lead role of Reenu in the rom-com Premalu, which starred Naslen as Sachin. Sangeeth also played a key role of Amal Davis in the film, and became quite popular for his witty dialogues. The film would mark their second collaboration after Premalu.

While Sangeeth has done several other Malayalam films post Premalu’s success such as Bromance and Hridayapoorvam, Mamitha had not had a Malayalam release. The young actress will also feature in Tamil superstar Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan, slated for release in January 2026.

On the other hand, Mamitha's latest film Dude is running successfully in theatres with the Pradeep Ranganathan film set to be the 2025 Diwali winner at the Tamil box office.
