Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, is actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan’s latest production which has stormed its way at the box office to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film. Even as the Dominic Arun directorial is continuing its stellar run at the cinemas, there have been multiple reports that claim the superhero film would be making its digital debut as early as this week. However, dismissing these as fake reports, Dulquer Salmaan has confirmed that Lokah is not headed to OTT anytime soon and asked, ‘What’s the hurry!’

Dulquer Salmaan, who is basking in the success of Lokah, took to Facebook on September 21, 2025, to dismiss the speculations that Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer could make its streaming debut soon.

“Lokah isn't coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements!,” he posted on FB on Sunday, with the hashtags #Lokah and #WhatstheHurry.

This has definitely dashed the hopes of those who skipped watching the film in the cinemas, and those hoping to rewatch it again on digital platforms to spot the easter eggs. Lokah is reportedly headed to Netflix, but neither the makers nor the platform has confirmed this.

Lokah’s OTT release could be as delayed as November 2025, as per sources, as the film eyes to break into the Rs 300-crore club.

Lokah to break into Rs 300 crore club?

Starring Kalyani and Naslen, Lokah has already made Rs 271 crore in worldwide collections, as per Sacnilk, beating Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan to become the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam. Trade experts are betting that Lokah could be the first Malayalam film to enter the Rs 300 crore club. Given no big releases in Malayalam for the next two weeks, except for Karam, this announcement also comes as a huge relief to the theatre exhibitors.

The only major Malayalam film to release in theatres later this week is the Vineeth Sreenivasan directorial Karam on September 25, 2025. Vineeeth’s last directorial to release was Varshangalkku Shesham in 2024, which was a hit at the box office but faced much trolling upon its OTT debut. There isn’t a huge buzz for Karam, which Vineeth Sreenivasan has said would break free from the typical elements that are known to be part of his film.

On the other hand, two of the other Onam releases of Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, starring Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani, and Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam would make their OTT debut this week. While Hridayapoorvam will land on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira will drop on Netflix on September 26, 2025.
