Malayalam star Nivin Pauly embarked on his biggest promotional tour since the pandemic for his latest release, Saturday Night, by visiting colleges across the State with his co-stars. The Premam actor has always enjoyed a special connection with the youth audience, and the recent promo tour helped him in several ways, the actor tells us.

Nivin was in his element during the college visit – cracking jokes and even shaking a leg with his co-stars Siju Wilson, Saniya Iyappan, Saiju Kurup and Aju Varghese. It was also a far cry from his recent promotions for films such as Padavettu and Mahaveeryar.

How important is it for him to reconnect with the audience? “The validation we get from the audience is always a huge boost for us actors,” says Nivin. “Every artiste wishes that the audience applaud their performance in theatres and express their love when you meet them. During these promotions, we could feed off of their energy and love. Their validation amps up our confidence.”

Saturday Night, which is helmed by Rosshan Andrrews, was also targeted at the young audience even though it revolved around a group of middle-aged men who are trying to rekindle their friendships after discovering that one of them is still stuck in the past.

On how much he could relate to the character of Stanley, Nivin says, “I am someone who loves to travel with my friends and play pranks on them. Stanley is such a character, who always plans trips and getaways with his group of friends. This movie is about his plans and how he surprises his friends with them.”

Nivin, meanwhile, is currently shooting for another entertainer – Vinay Govind’s Thaaram that also has Nikhila Vimal, Kayadu Lohar, Vinay Forrt and Krishna Sankar. The actor’s next release will be the Tamil movie Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, which is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Ram and also has Soori and Anjali as part of the cast.
