Game Changer on OTT: Here's where to watch Ram Charan's political drama post-theatrical release

Telugu superstar Ram Charan's Game Changer will become available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video after the film completes its mandatory theatrical run.

Amazon Prime Video has secured the streaming rights to Telugu superstar Ram Charan's upcoming movie Game Changer . The streaming platform officially confirmed the news on Tuesday at a marquee event in Mumbai, where it unveiled its grand lineup for 2024.

Game Changer will become available for streaming on the platform after the film completes its mandatory theatrical run. Following industry standards, new South Indian movies typically make their streaming debut four weeks after screenings in cinemas.

Game Changer's production woes

According to the official synopsis, Game Changer revolves around an honest IAS officer who wages a war on political corruption through fair elections to transform the game of governance.

The story of Game Changer is written by Karthik Subbaraj, while director Shankar crafted its screenplay. The film has been in production for an extended period.

The shooting of Game Changer faced multiple snags for various reasons. Shankar's prior commitment to Indian 2, starring Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan, was among the contributing factors to the film's delay.

For the uninitiated, Indian 2 was in limbo for over two years following an ugly public fallout between Shankar and producers, Lyca Productions. With no clarity on the movie's fate, Shankar moved on to shooting Game Changer. Halfway through production, Shankar was called back to complete the Indian 2 project.

For the first time in his career spanning more than three decades, Shankar juggled two tentpole movies simultaneously.

Game Changer fast nearing completion

Meanwhile, Ram Charan was occupied with the Oscar campaign for his global hit RRR. He dedicated a significant amount of time promoting the movie worldwide in the run-up to last year's Academy Awards, along with director SS Rajamouli and his co-star Jr NTR. He also took a break from work after the birth of his first daughter, Klin Kaara.

Ram Charan is currently busy shooting for Game Changer. He recently completed a schedule in Vizag, and shooting will resume in Hyderabad this week.

Although the filmmakers have not confirmed the release date, Game Changer is expected to hit cinemas this year.
