To term Gandhada Gudi as 'special' would perhaps be an understatement considering the emotions attached to the film. Puneeth Rajkumar, loved equally as both an actor and a personality, might not be around in person anymore but his legacy lingers on forever through his many million devoted fans who are now eagerly awaiting the release of his final on-screen appearance. Gandhada Gudi releases on October 28, fittingly on the eve of his first death anniversary, and it has been apparent all along that the film is nothing less than a grand celebration.

And it would seem that celebrations have begun a few days ahead of the release as the advance ticket bookings get off to a glorious start. The makers had previously announced that the tickets to the paid premiere shows on October 27 will be available from 7:10 pm on the 24th of October and just as expected, each of them is on the cusp of being fully booked out. Gandhada Gudi will premiere a day before the official release across 20+ screens in Bengaluru along with a handful number of shows in other Karnataka cities such as Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belgaum, and others.

Produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under the PRK Productions banner in association with Mudskipper, Gandhada Gudi is a documentary that features Puneeth Rajkumar and director Amoghavarsha's journey to explore the majestic land & waterscapes of Karnataka. This seminal trip takes them through the lust forests and vast water bodies and brings them in contact with the myriad cultures of the state. As seen in the trailer and teaser, both Puneeth and Amoghavarsha encounter life of a varied kind along their way: as a bonus, Gandhada Gudi also features the ancestral home of the Dr. Rajkumar family in the Gajanur village of Karnataka.

As a film alone, many artists have hailed Gandhada Gudi to be a one-of-a-kind venture as it features a celebrated actor of Puneeth Rajkumar's repute shedding his stardom and showing his true self to the camera. Recently, while at the Puneeth Parva event, fellow actor Rakshit Shetty reckoned that the film will mark the beginning of a new kind of cinema for Indian audiences and help documentary cinema find more space in the mainstream.
