Gatha Vaibhava out on OTT: Director Suni’s fantasy romantic drama is now available to stream

Four stories woven into one film – that was the major highlight of director Suni’s latest film, Gatha Vaibhava, starring newcomer Dushyanth and Ashika Ranganath. The film, a love story spanning multiple generations, hit theatres in mid-November last year and had got mixed reviews at the time. By and large, though, the film was said to be entertaining in parts, with Suni’s trademark humour and emotional depth of the storytelling shining through. The film has now dropped on OTT and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

What is Gatha Vaibhava about?

Gatha Vaibhava was Suni’s most ambitious film to date, following a tale of unrequited love across four timelines and involving reincarnation. The story begins in present day, where Adhunika (Ashika), paints a portrait of the man from her dreams, which when shared online, reaches Purathan (Dushyanth), a VFX artist, the man in the sketch. Turns out that Adhunika firmly believes that they are soulmates who were separated by fate across multiple births.

The story then traverses to different eras, including in the celestial realm, but in each timeline, there are obstacles that keep them from finding their happily-ever-after. Can Adhunika and Purathan finally break this cycle or is their love meant to be doomed yet again. This is at the core of the film.

Featuring music by Judah Sandhy and visuals by William David, Gatha Vaibhava also stars Sudha Belawadi, Kishan Bilagali, Krishna Hebbale, Krishna Jorapur and Karthik Rao. The film was not a commercial success. The filmmaker has already moved on to his next.
