Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s third release of the year Hridayapoorvam is set to make its much-awaited OTT premiere. Also starring Malavika Mohanan and Sangeeth Prathap, Hridayapoorvam would land on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium on September 26, 2025. The platform will also stream the Sathyan Anthikad film in Telugu and Kannada.

Hridayapoorvam, Mohanlal’s much-awaited Onam release, would make its OTT premiere within a month of its big screen debut on August 28. Non-Malayali fans of Mohanlal will also have the option to watch Hridayapoorvam in the south Indian languages of Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, and also Hindi.

What is the story of Hridayapoorvam?

Hridayapoorvam revolves around the middle-aged bachelor Sandeep. After he undergoes a heart transplant, Sandeep heads to Pune to meet the donor’s family and attend his daughter’s engagement ceremony. But due to certain events, Sandeep stays back, getting to know the donor’s daughter and her mother.

A Sathyan Anthikad film, Hridayapoorvam promises a beautiful blend of feel-good elements and humorous situations that the senior Malayalam filmmaker is known for. Add to that a winning ensemble cast with the likes of Sangeeth Prathap of Premalu fame and Malavika joining the seniors Siddique, Lalu Alex, and Janardhanan. Another notable cast member is Sangita Madhavan Nair who is still known for his award-winning performance in the 1998 film Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, helmed by actor-director Sreenivasan.

Other Onam releases

On the other hand, Hridayapoorvam released in theatres along with Lokah, starring actress Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role. The star prowess of Mohanlal meant that Hridayapoorvam took a headstart at the box office, but Kalyani’s superhero movie caught up soon and raced ahead to become the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam film, beating even the likes of Empuraan and Manjummel Boys.

Lokah was earlier rumoured to make its OTT debut also this week, but its producer Dulquer Salmaan has rejected these claims.
