Hridayapoorvam teaser: Mohanlal’s ready with a lesson on the magic of ‘good senior actors’ for young audiences

Hridayapoorvam teaser: Mohanlal reunites with Sathyan Anthikkad for a feel-good family entertainer that will be in theatres for Onam 2025.

Malayalam cinema is not just FaFa and Malayalis’ favourite Lalettan will prove that there’s still magic in the “good senior actors” with his Onam release Hridayapoorvam. Directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, who has made gems like TP Balagopalan MA, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Sanmanasullavarkku Samadhanam, Nadodikkattu, and so many more, with Mohanlal, Hridayapoorvam is headed to theatres on August 28, in the run-up to which, the team released a teaser to introduce the cast and give audiences an idea of what to expect.

Mohanlal is joined by Malavika Mohanan, Sangeeth Pratap, Sangita, Siddique, Lalu Alex, among others in what appears to be a sweet and simple feel-good fun family entertainer. Audiences are more than thrilled at the return of the Mohanlal-Sathyan combination, even though, this time around, the latter is only directing, based on a story by his son, Akhil.

“The legendary combo is back,” exclaimed netizens, when the teaser dropped earlier on July 19, adding that going by the fleeting visuals in it, Hridayapoorvam will likely be one of the Onam box office winners. What many have noted is that the teaser hints at a clean and fun entertainer, with no action and associated drama, which is just what audiences need during the festive season.

Contrary to expectations, though, the teaser did not reveal much about the plot, focusing instead on the interactions Mohanlal has with each of the other main cast members. Hridayapoorvam is Mohanlal’s third release of the year, which began with Empuraan and was followed by Thudarum, both of which took the box office by storm. This one’s expected to follow suit.

Hridayapoorvam, meanwhile, is Mohanlal’s first film with Anthikkad in a decade, their last collaboration being 2015’s Ennum Eppozhum. Malavika Mohanan, who plays the female lead in the film, had earlier waxed eloquent about the enriching experience it was working with stalwarts like Mohanlal and Anthikkad.
