While Ranveer Singh was supposed to play the titular role in Don 3, a recent report claimed that he has walked out of Farhan's project amidst the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar. While the makers are searching for actors for the Don 3 lead role, Hrithik Roshan's name came as a strong contender.

After Ranveer Singh exited Don 3, the makers are looking for a new actor to play the lead role. Filmfare reported that Hrithik Roshan has become a strong contender. He had a cameo role in Don 2, when Shah Rukh Khan's character impersonated Hrithik's character in a crucial scene in the movie.

“Following Ranveer’s exit, Hrithik has emerged as a strong contender for the role. While discussions are still at a very early stage, it will be interesting to see whether Hrithik ultimately comes on board," the report shared.

Why did Ranveer Singh step away from Don 3?

Pinkvilla reported that amid Dhurandhar’s blockbuster success, Ranveer has a clear vision about the kind of films he wants to do next and thus, he decided to walk out of Don 3.

"He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space. That’s one of the reasons he has asked Jai Mehta to prepone the shoot of Pralay. Ranveer is keen on fast-tracking the project and bringing it on floors sooner than planned," the source shared.

On the other hand, News18 earlier reported that Vikrant Massey, who earlier quit Don 3, is likely to return as the main villain in Don 3.
