Idli Kadai star Dhanush talks about the secret of doing his unrealised dream job through movies

Speaking at the trailer launch in Coimbatore, Idli Kadai star Dhanush shared his passion for cooking and encouraged youth to manifest their dreams

Dhanush, the Tamil actor and director, is looking forward to the release of his next film, Idli Kadai. The film is also helmed by the actor himself, who attended the trailer launch event held in Coimbatore on Saturday. Idli Kadai, which is expected to be a feel-good drama, is about a man going back to his roots to preserve his family’s legacy tied to a modest roadside eatery. Dhanush spoke about his unrealised dream and how he is living through his fictional characters onscreen.

The Idli Kadai trailer has been released, putting rumours on the film’s plot to rest. It can be easily deduced as a story of a man who has achieved his bit, but goes back to his father’s idli shop to make it as celebrated as it once was.

Speaking at the trailer launch event, Dhanush said, “I wanted to cook and become a chef and probably because of that, I have been getting such stories and characters in my films. Be it a parotta master in Jagame Thandhiram, a food delivery man in Thiruchitrambalam or in Raayan, where my character ran a fast food. Here, I am making idlis. It so happens that I am also writing such stories for myself, and other directors too approach me with such kinds of roles. It could be a manifestation and it’s following me. Youngsters should manifest and work towards their dreams. Dream, meditate, manifest, and work hard towards it.”

Idli Kadai release date:

Idli Kadai is scheduled for a theatrical release on 1 October. The film features an ensemble cast including Nithya Menen, Sathyaraj, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Samuthirakani, Rajkiran, P. Samuthirakani and Parthiban. The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Idli Kadai marks Dhanush's fourth directorial after Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavuku Enmel Enadi Kobam.
