Lahore 1947, which is Rajkumar Santoshi directorial produced by Aamir Khan and featuring Sunny Deol, has now been renamed to Batwara 1947. Bollywood Hungama’s Vickey Lalwani reported the news stating that the makers considered changing it because of the current friction between India and its neighbouring country. The decision was taken last week. The makers are yet to officially confirm the new title.
Interestingly, the name of the original play by Asghar Wajahat was titled Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. It is what has been adapted into the Hindi film.
After the news broke out, Rajkumar Santoshi maintained stoic silence. Aamir Khan, on the other hand, reached out and stated, “This is not true.”
