Is Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi preponed to clash with Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan? Here is what we know

In what may come as surprising twist in the tale, Parasakthi, the Tamil film starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, will be advancing its release date and will now arrive on January 10. This means the film will hit big screens just a day after Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, will is set for January 9 release.

Parasakthi prepones its release; to clash with Jana Nayagan:

With two Tamil films set for Pongal release, there was enough gap between them. While the much-anticipated Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan had locked its date on January 9, there was a week’s gap for Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi to hit theatres on January 14. However, looks like there is a change now. There is a buzz that makers of Parasakthi have communicated the preponement of their film from January 14 to January 10 to theatre owners.

To confirm this, OTTplay contacted Tiruppur Subramanian, former president of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, who said that Parasakthi team has communicated about the preponement of the film to January 10. Further, also said that with the two major Pongal releases coming back-to-back, it will be much needed respite for theatres which saw a December devoid of any major films. However, it looks like not all theatre owners are communicated this, given a few who OTTplay contacted said that they are yet to get clarity.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, it stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan as the antagonist, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela in her Tamil debut. The film is set in the 1960 backdrop with a story centred on the anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu and a sibling conflict at its heart. The music is scored by GV Prakash Kumar. It is to be noted that Parasakthi is Sivakarthikeyan’s 25thfilm and GV Prakash’s 100th as composer. The film was initially launched with Suriya who later backed out of the project.
