In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Pooja Hegde spoke about a variety of topics, including her appearance in Coolie’s Monica song, her performance as Rukmini in Retro and if she thinks she is boxed within the glamorous roles.

When she was asked if Pooja ever thinks she gets boxed into the glamorous roles, it was a quick 'for sure' which was followed up with 'more so in Mumbai'. Pooja went on to say, "It is not even the audience anymore, I think more of the filmmakers. Maybe they have seen a little bit of what I have done in south and really are not aware of what I am working on. You can get typecast for sure, which is why this year I wanted to do different things and break that.”

What did Pooja Hegde say about Karthik Subbaraj

Pooja Hegde went on to credit filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj for giving her the role in Retro, which was stripped of glamour and had more scope to perform. Pooja said that it takes a good filmmaker to see that. Recalling how he saw her in Radhe Shyam and cast her in Retro, the actor said, "It takes a trained eye and a director with vision who can think she has this side to her. Once you do convincingly, more directors will do.”
