Malayalam's latest courtroom drama, Janaki V v/s State of Kerala has made its digital debut today (August 15). The film, which stars Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles, is now available to watch on ZEE5 as well as on OTTplay Premium.

Just one month after its theatrical debut in July, this intriguing legal drama started streaming on the well-known OTT platform following several controversial events. The movie is available for streaming in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The Pravin Narayanan-directed film made headlines when the Censor Board proposed changing the title from Janaki to Janaki V because the film's protagonist, a survivor of sexual assault, "could not be named after a Hindu goddess." The film's release was postponed for more than a month due to this reason. Pravin, along with a number of other filmmakers in Kerala, strongly objected to this. Even while critics praised Suresh Gopi's strong performance in JSK, it received mediocre reviews for its underwhelming plot and lousy screenplay, which didn't make much of an impression at the box office.

What is Janaki V v/s State of Kerala about?

The main character of the movie is Janaki, a victim of sexual assault whose case is investigated after her father died mysteriously during a political event. The case takes a new turn when a prominent lawyer, played by Suresh Gopi, defends the person charged and denies her justice. How Janaki will achieve the justice she deserves is the primary plot point of the film.

Among the supporting cast members of the movie are Shruti Ramachandran, Madhav Suresh, Askar Ali, Baiju Santhosh, Jayan Cherthala, Nisthar Seth, Shobi Thilakan, Dilip Menon, Vaishnavi Raj, Aparna, Ratheesh Krishnan, Jose Chengannur, Yadu Krishnan, Rajat Menon, Kottayam Ramesh, and Manjushree.
