Junior box office collection day 7: Kireeti Reddy's film slow down but grosses Rs 16 crore

Junior is a special film as it marked the debut of Keerthi Reddy, the son of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, and was produced by Sai Korrapati on his Varahi Chalana Chitra banner. The family drama featured big names like Genelia Deshmukh, Kannada actor V. Ravichandran, and Sreeleela in key roles.

The makers promoted the film quite aggressively, and thanks to its superhit music, Junior released with a lot of hype. Though the film was termed routine by critics, debutant Keerthi Reddy was appreciated for his dances, fight sequences, and decent screen presence.

With the weekend approaching, the numbers are expected to see a slight rise. However, with Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu now in theatres, Junior is likely to lose out on screens, as audiences will naturally lean toward the bigger film. That said, Junior has achieved what it set out to, and recovering the budget was never an issue for the makers, as the project was primarily intended to launch the hero.

The makers have also finalized a deal for the film’s OTT rights, and we’ve learned that a leading platform has offered a big amount. An official announcement is expected soon. Genelia Deshmukh made her comeback to Telugu cinema after 13 long years and played the role of the hero’s sister. Her performance was well received.

Sreeleela didn’t have much screen time but delivered a solid performance, especially in the songs and dance sequences, which are being widely talked about. Directed by Radhakrishna, the film tells the story of a young man who returns to his roots to resolve his family’s problems.
