Acclaimed filmmaker Manikandan's Kadaisi Vivasayi was one of the much-awaited films of Vijay Sethupathi this year. Though the film's shooting was completed long ago, the makers were keen on choosing a proper release date for the movie. Initially, there were reports that the film might skip theatrical release, but the team was patient enough to wait and released it in theatres on February 11. The movie opened to decent response from film lovers and critics.

What's Kadaisi Vivasayi about?

The movie's story revolves around an octogenarian farmer who is the only person in his village who indulges in farming without resorting to superficial methods of agriculture. One day, he gets arrested for a false charge after which his paddy field gets destroyed. How he proves his innocence in the case despite going through multiple hearing sessions in the court forms the rest of the story. Nallandi, who played the titular role in the film, passed away a while ago.

What's the connection between Rajinikanth and Kadaisi Vivasayi?

Manikandan had first approached none other than Superstar Rajinikanth to play the protagonist's role in the movie. However, the Annaatthe star is said to have rejected the offer despite liking the story. According to sources, the veteran actor felt that the character may not suit his stardom and image. It was later that the filmmaker approached the debut actor Nallandi.

When and where to watch Kadaisi Vivasayi online?

The film is dropping on SonyLIV on March 11. Vijay Sethupathi, who plays a pivotal role in the project, has distributed the movie which has been produced by the director himself. Manikandan has handled cinematography, too, for the film which has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan and Richard Harvey. B Ajithkumar has edited the movie which has Yogi Babu, Muneeshwaran, Kali Muthu, Chaplin Sundar and Raichal Rabecca essaying important roles.
