Kalamkaval marks Malayalam megastar Mammootty’s big return to the silver screen after seven months. Though initially announced as a November 27 release, Kalamkaval was pushed by a week to December 5. To keep up the excitement alive for Kalamka val, Mammootty has been dropping regular updates, including BTS video and the full soundtrack by Mujeeb Majeed.

Mammootty dropped the full music album of his upcoming Malayalam film Kalamkaval on social media on Thursday. The Kalamkaval soundtrack, composed by Mujeeb Majeed, has six songs, with four having a duration of less than 2 minutes. En Vaighai, which has also credited Mujeeb Majeed as the singer along with Sindhu Delson, Sreerag Bharathan and Vinayak Sasikumar, has a 2.06-minute duration. Kalamkaval is touted to be a neo-noir crime thriller, and the songs have a vintage touch to them, will remind viewers of 80s and 90s music of the maestro Ilaiyaraaja. The visuals of the Jithin K Jose directorial were not released.
Before the soundtrack, Mammootty had shared the behind-the-scenes video of the actors on the sets of Kalamkaval. The visuals, include that of the team shooting interlaced with actual scenes from the movie. We see Mammootty, and the other lead actor Vinayakan in the BTS video. While the film scenes featured Vinayakan as a tense cop and Mammootty in chilling avatar, the BTS also showed them in real candid moments on the sets.
Fans were happy to see the video, with some commenting ‘waiting’ and dropping fire emojis. It is being said that Mammootty would be seen in a negative role in Kalamkaval, though the makers have not confirmed it.

Apart from Mammootty and Vinayakan, the film also features Jibin Gopinath who was last seen in Pranav Mohanlal’s Dies Irae. Another film Pongala, starring Sreenath Bhasi, was scheduled to release on December 5, but has now been rescheduled to November 30, a Sunday.
